Educational Scholarships Now Available

The WBA/GSB Human Resource Management School Scholarship offers $925 toward the attendance of this popular one-week school designed specifically for HR professionals in the financial industry. The deadline is February 10. Information/Application here.
The WBA/GSB Prochnow Educational Foundation/Wisconsin Bankers Association Scholarship goes toward attendance in the GSB three-year program and provides a total of $3,900 in savings over that span. The deadline to apply is March 30. Information/Application here.
Dodd-Frank Act Anniversary
The one-year anniversary of passage of the Dodd-Frank Act is the effective date for some of its major provisions. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is now responsible for certain consumer protection rules formerly housed in seven other federal agencies. The Office of Thrift Supervision is closed. Several other provisions are now effective, and many more will be implemented over the next several months and years. Here are a few statistics illustrating the range of this law:
- 78 proposed banking rules totaling 2,845 Federal Register pages -- which laid end-to-end would be more than twice the height of the Empire State Building
- 42 final rules spanning 1,097 Federal Register pages -- roughly twice the height of the Washington Monument
- 552 employees the CFPB expects to have in place by Aug. 1
